Administrator file creation via workspace path traversal
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path traversal in Triangle MicroWorks SCADA Data Gateway 5.1.3 allows remote attackers to create arbitrary files through workspace files. Workspace-file processing accepts a user-supplied path without validating that file operations remain within an intended directory. Exploitation requires a target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, after which the file is created with Administrator privileges.
