Bootstrap-superuser code execution via quoted substitutions
Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Mar 12, 2026
SQL injection in PostgreSQL 11 through 15 allows remote authenticated users with database CREATE privilege to execute code as bootstrap superuser. Extension processing substitutes owner or schema text inside quoted extension-script constructs without neutralizing syntax introduced by the substituted value. Exploitation requires an administrator-installed trusted non-bundled extension containing that pattern; no bundled extension is vulnerable.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
