Authenticated script execution via javascript-scheme return URL
Published Sep 5, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Reflected XSS in Cacti 1.2.24 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through a crafted graphs_new.php returnto value. graphs_new.php passes returnto into form_save_button, where HTML escaping leaves a javascript-scheme URL executable in an onClick handler. Exploitation requires a logged-in victim to open the crafted URL and click Cancel, enabling actions in that victim's Cacti session.
