CVE-2023-39345Public exploit

Unauthorized private-field writes via unsanitized registration

Published Nov 6, 2023 · Updated Sep 4, 2024

Improper authentication in Strapi 4.0.0 through 4.13.0 allows remote attackers to write private fields through the registration API. The users-permissions register controller passed custom user-model fields from the request body into account creation without excluding attributes marked private. Self-registration must be enabled and the user model must contain a security-relevant custom private field; exploitation creates an account with attacker-chosen private data.
