Network outage via VLT and VRRP resource exhaustion
Published Dec 5, 2023 · Updated May 28, 2025
Uncontrolled resource consumption in Dell SmartFabric OS10 10.5.5.5 allows remote attackers to flood the network and interrupt service. The switch software exhausts an unspecified resource when both Virtual Link Trunking and Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol are enabled; Dell has not disclosed the code-level locus or triggering packet sequence. Exploitation requires both features to be enabled and causes an availability-only outage for legitimate network users.
