CVE-2023-39176Network attack vector

Unauthenticated information disclosure via transform-header over-read

Published Nov 18, 2024 · Updated Nov 18, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in Linux kernel ksmbd allows remote attackers to disclose kernel memory via crafted SMB2 transform headers. The transform-header parser fails to validate user-supplied request data before reading past the end of its allocated buffer. The SMB service must have ksmbd enabled; exploitation requires no authentication, and the direct impact is limited to information disclosure.
