Remote command execution via unchecked JNDI lookup
Published Jul 28, 2023 · Updated Oct 22, 2024
Code injection in OpenSymphony oscore 2.2.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through a crafted lookup URL. The EJBUtils.createStateless method passes an unchecked name to a JNDI lookup, allowing LDAP or RMI URLs to resolve attacker-controlled objects. No authentication or user interaction is required, but exploitation depends on a consuming application passing attacker-controlled data into this library API.
