Arbitrary executable launch via unvalidated constructor path
Published Jul 28, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024
Code injection in bramp ffmpeg-cli-wrapper 0.7.0 and earlier allows attackers to run an arbitrary executable through the FFmpeg constructor. The net.bramp.ffmpeg.FFmpeg(String) constructor forwards the path to the process runner and calls version(), executing the supplied program before establishing that it is FFmpeg. Exploitation requires a consuming application to place attacker-controlled data in the executable-path argument, a usage the CVE record says multiple parties consider unrealistic.
