Arbitrary code execution via unsafe YAML deserialization
Published Jul 28, 2023 · Updated Oct 22, 2024
Code injection in BoofCV 0.42 and earlier allows attackers to execute arbitrary Java code by loading a crafted camera calibration file. CalibrationIO.load parses YAML without a safe constructor, allowing attacker-supplied type tags to instantiate Java classes and load a remote JAR. Exploitation requires an application to pass an attacker-controlled calibration file to the method; successful loading runs code with the application's privileges.
