Stored XSS via unescaped crash-report content
Published Aug 9, 2023 · Updated Oct 10, 2024
Stored XSS in OPNsense Community Edition before 23.7 and Business Edition before 23.4.2 allows local users to execute script in an admin browser. crash_reporter.php reads /tmp/PHP_errors.log and inserts its contents directly inside a pre element without HTML encoding. A local user who can write the log must wait for an authenticated administrator to open Crash Reporter; the injected script then runs with the web interface's origin.
