Reflected script execution via unescaped act parameter
Published Aug 9, 2023 · Updated Oct 10, 2024
Reflected XSS in OPNsense Community Edition before 23.7 and Business Edition before 23.4.2 allows attackers to run browser scripts via a crafted URL. system_certmanager.php places the act parameter into a hidden input value without HTML-escaping it, allowing the value attribute to be broken and attacker-controlled markup to enter the response. Execution requires an authenticated administrator to follow the crafted URL; the resulting script runs in the administrator's OPNsense origin and can act through that session.
