Unauthenticated database crash via oversized vector dimension
Published Aug 29, 2023 · Updated Oct 2, 2024
Denial of service in Qdrant 1.3.2 allows remote attackers to crash the database through an oversized collection vector dimension. In chunked_vectors.rs, the unchecked dimension can reduce the computed vector size to zero and trigger division by zero, or request an allocation large enough to abort the process. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the demonstrated consequence is loss of database availability rather than data access or modification.
