Username enumeration via CAPTCHA-bypassing password reset errors
Published Jul 25, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Observable discrepancy in 42Gears SureMDM On-Premise 6.31 and earlier allows remote attackers to enumerate usernames via password reset. The forgot-password component accepts requests that bypass CAPTCHA and returns error messages that distinguish whether a supplied local user exists. Access to the on-premise interface is sufficient; no authentication or user interaction is required, and the documented consequence is account-existence disclosure.
