CVE-2023-38960Public exploit

Local privilege escalation via writable service executable

Published Feb 13, 2024 · Updated May 7, 2025

Incorrect default permissions in RaidenFTPD 2.4 build 4005 allow local users to gain privileges and execute arbitrary code on Windows hosts. The C:\RaidenServer directory grants Authenticated Users modify access to service executables, enabling rfsvc.exe replacement or DLL hijacking. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and an enabled privileged RaidenFTPD Windows service whose later launch executes the substituted code.
