Account takeover via password-reset Host header injection
Published Sep 28, 2023 · Updated Sep 23, 2024
Host header injection in gugoan Economizzer 0.9-beta1 and earlier allows remote attackers to steal reset tokens via crafted requests. The forgot-password handler uses the request Host value as the authority in emailed reset URLs without validating it against a trusted origin. Exploitation requires a victim to open the poisoned link; the exposed token lets the attacker set that user's password and take over the account.
