Remote command execution via ping destination injection
Published Aug 15, 2023 · Updated Oct 9, 2024
Command injection in COMFAST CF-XR11 2.7.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through a crafted ping destination. The webmgnt binary's sub_431F64 function parses the POSTed destination field and passes attacker-controlled shell syntax into command execution without neutralization. The published request targets the mbox-config ping action and includes a session cookie, leaving the authentication requirement unresolved; successful exploitation grants a router shell.
