Authenticated database disclosure via unvalidated update parameter
Published Mar 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
SQL injection in REDCap before 13.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to read database data through MyCapMobileApp/update.php. The update endpoint passes the unvalidated index_modal_update POST value through page_id into an SQL query, enabling attacker-controlled statements. Exploitation requires a logged-in REDCap account and at least one instrument enabled as a MyCap task; successful injection exposes database contents and password-reset keys.
