Stored cross-site scripting via unescaped attribution fields
Published Aug 8, 2023 · Updated Oct 10, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in wger Workout Manager 2.2.0a3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in visitors' browsers. The AbstractLicenseModel.attribution_link property concatenates license_author into raw HTML, and the ingredient view marks the result safe, bypassing Django auto-escaping. Any authenticated non-temporary account can store the payload; execution occurs when another user opens the public ingredient page, enabling actions and data access in that visitor's session.
