CVE-2023-38748

Code execution via freed CXP parser object

Published Aug 3, 2023 · Updated Oct 17, 2024

Use-after-free in OMRON CX-Programmer 9.80 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to execute code through a crafted CXP file. The CXP project-file parser accesses an object after its backing memory has been released; OMRON has not identified the affected function or parsing field. Exploitation requires a user to open the malicious project file, after which attacker-controlled code can run in that user's application context or process memory can be disclosed.
