CVE-2023-38729Network attack vector

Authenticated file disclosure via unrestricted ADMIN_CMD paths

Published Apr 3, 2024 · Updated Jan 9, 2025

Information disclosure in IBM Db2 10.5, 11.1, and 11.5 allows remote authenticated users to read sensitive server files through ADMIN_CMD. ADMIN_CMD runs IMPORT and EXPORT in an elevated fenced process, while a null DB2_LOAD_RESTRICTED_IO_PATH leaves server file paths unrestricted. Reachability requires a direct database connection and command and object privileges; IBM has not disclosed the defect's replication details.
