CVE-2023-38685Network attack vector

Restricted tag disclosure via unfiltered noscript topic objects

Published Jul 28, 2023 · Updated Oct 10, 2024

Information exposure in Discourse before 3.0.6 or 3.1.0.beta1 through 3.1.0.beta6 allows remote authenticated users to read restricted tag names. The server-rendered noscript topic list reads tags directly from topic objects, bypassing the serializer's hidden-tag filtering. Remote authenticated users can reach the topic list over the network; exposure is limited to restricted tag metadata, with no reported content modification.
