CVE-2023-38682

Code execution via TIFF structure over-read

Published Aug 8, 2023 · Updated Oct 11, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in Siemens JT2Go and Teamcenter Visualization allows context-dependent attackers to execute code via a crafted TIFF file. Their TIFF parsers read past an allocated structure; affected releases are JT2Go before 14.2.0.5 and Teamcenter Visualization 13.2 before 13.2.0.14, 14.1 before 14.1.0.10, and 14.2 before 14.2.0.5. The user must open the file; successful exploitation runs code in the current process, and the invalid read can also crash the application.
