CVE-2023-38586

Sandbox restriction bypass via undisclosed access flaw

Published Sep 26, 2023 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Sandbox restriction bypass in Apple macOS before 14 allows attackers to circumvent access limits from a sandboxed Image Capture process. Apple identifies Image Capture as the affected component and an access issue as the cause, but it has not disclosed the faulty operation. Exploitation requires code running inside an affected sandboxed process; the resources or privileges exposed beyond that boundary are undisclosed.
