CVE-2023-38509Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Email disclosure via sorting obfuscated addresses

Published Jul 27, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Information disclosure in XWiki Platform LiveTable UI allows remote authenticated users to infer email addresses through sorted results. XWiki.LiveTableResultsMacros passes the requested email sort into an HQL order clause even when mail obfuscation is enabled, so result order reflects stored cleartext values. An account with view access to the user directory can use repeated sorted queries to recover address information; the issue exposes data without altering it or interrupting service.
