Authorization bypass via unnormalized matrix-variable paths
Published Jul 25, 2023 · Updated Oct 3, 2024
Incorrect authorization in LINE Corporation Armeria 1.24.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to bypass request authorizers. Server-side routing retains semicolon matrix variables when matching decorators but passes the same path to Spring controllers through TomcatService or JettyService, so the controller route and protected prefix are interpreted differently. The flaw is reachable only in Spring-integrated services that protect paths with Armeria decorators; a crafted matrix-variable path grants unauthenticated access to the protected controller response.
