CVE-2023-38434Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Remote server crash via double-free request cleanup

Published Jul 18, 2023 · Updated Oct 28, 2024

Double free in cozis xHTTP 72f812d allows remote attackers to crash an HTTP server via a malformed request method. The request parser frees the dynamically allocated header list after rejecting the method but leaves its pointer reachable, so close_connection frees the same allocation again. Any unauthenticated client that can reach an application embedding the library can terminate the server process; no data disclosure or modification is reported.
