Local privilege escalation via unquoted executable path
Published Jul 23, 2023 · Updated Nov 22, 2024
Unquoted search path in Pointware Easy Inventory 1.0.12.0 allows local users to execute code with elevated privileges through Easy2W.exe. The executable path under C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyInventory is not enclosed in quotation marks, so Windows can resolve an attacker-controlled executable from a higher-level path. Exploitation requires local access and permission to write a candidate executable; successful interception runs code in the privileged launcher's context.
