CVE-2023-38378Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via password-change shell injection

Published Jul 16, 2023 · Updated Oct 30, 2024

OS command injection in RIGOL MSO5000 firmware 00.01.03.00.03 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through its web interface. The changepwd.cgi cgiMain function embeds the pass1 form value in an echo command passed to system() without neutralizing shell metacharacters. An empty pass0 value makes strncmp compare zero bytes, bypassing the old-password check and allowing unauthenticated command execution as root.
