Elevated code execution via unvalidated update configuration
Published Sep 19, 2023 · Updated Sep 25, 2024
Improper certificate validation in MiniTool Partition Wizard 12.8 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to execute code through updates. The updater accepts an intercepted configuration that forces a substituted download URL, then downloads and executes the supplied binary with high elevation. The attacker must control traffic to partitionwizard.com, and opening the application triggers execution of the substituted payload.
