Browser-session compromise via archived email JavaScript
Published Aug 9, 2023 · Updated Oct 10, 2024
Stored XSS in LWsystems Benno MailArchiv 2.10.1 allows remote attackers to run JavaScript when a user views a crafted email. The benno-rest path archives attacker-supplied HTML email content and renders its JavaScript in the Benno Web-App without neutralization. Execution requires a user to log in and open the archived message; plaintext HTML login preserves exposure to data and actions available in that browser session.
