Service crash via missing User-Agent header
Published Nov 17, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in openNDS Captive Portal before 10.1.2 allows remote attackers to crash the daemon with a crafted HTTP request. Within show_preauthpage, a missing User-Agent header leaves a pointer null, but the request path passes that pointer to a string operation without a null check. One unauthenticated request to /opennds_preauth/ interrupts the captive portal and denies network access until the daemon is restarted.
