Service crash via missing BinAuth redirect parameter
Published Nov 17, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in openNDS Captive Portal before 10.1.2 allows remote attackers to crash the service via a crafted HTTP GET request. The BinAuth pre-authentication path invokes do_binauth without validating that the client redirect query parameter exists, causing a NULL dereference. The request needs no credentials, but BinAuth must be enabled; exploitation interrupts captive-portal service without reported data access or modification.
