Browser script execution via stored log configuration
Published Jul 31, 2023 · Updated Oct 22, 2024
Stored XSS in Webmin 2.021 System Logs Viewer allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in another user's browser. The configuration field stores attacker-supplied markup without neutralizing executable content, and the viewer renders it when changes are saved or the page is reopened. The attacker needs Webmin access to alter the module configuration, and a victim must save it or open the viewer; execution is confined to the Webmin web origin.
