Cross-site scripting via archive extraction bypass
Published Jul 31, 2023 · Updated Oct 22, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Webmin 2.021 file upload allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser via an uploaded archive. Archive extraction places a prohibited SVG file into the upload area without applying the direct-upload file-type restriction, allowing its script to render. Exploitation requires a user to upload and extract the crafted archive, and successful script execution can access or alter data available to that browser session.
