Command execution via stored real-name script
Published Jul 31, 2023 · Updated Oct 22, 2024
Stored XSS in Webmin 2.021 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands by placing script code in a user's real name. The Users and Groups module stores the real-name value without neutralizing it and renders it in the user-list pop-up, where the browser executes the injected script. A user must open the user-list pop-up after the authenticated attacker creates the crafted account, triggering code in that user's browser session.
