Local file disclosure via global XML state
Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
XXE in PHP 8.0.* before 8.0.30, 8.1.* before 8.1.22, and 8.2.* before 8.2.8 allows remote attackers to read local files via XML parsing. PHP XML functions trust process-global libxml settings that other modules can leave with external entities enabled, so crafted XML resolves local entities. Exploitation requires an application that parses attacker-influenced XML in a process where another module changed that shared state; impact is local-file confidentiality disclosure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=8.0.* <8.0.30
