Root code execution via configuration ZIP traversal
Published Dec 19, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path traversal in Softing edgeAggregator 3.60 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code as root. The /runtime/core/config-restore endpoint extracts attacker-supplied ZIP entry paths without confining them, allowing files to be written anywhere. Administrative authentication is required; overwriting a legitimate executable under /bin or /lib yields root-level execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
