Authenticated SYSTEM code execution via missing CSP headers
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Remote code execution in Inductive Automation Ignition 8.1.24 allows remote authenticated users to run code as SYSTEM via the OPC UA Quick Client. The Gateway web server omits appropriate CSP headers, permitting untrusted cross-domain content to participate in a chained attack. Exploitation requires Gateway configuration privileges and a connection to an attacker-controlled OPC UA server, although ZDI reports that authentication can be bypassed.
