CVE-2023-38101Network attack vector

SYSTEM code execution via exposed controller function

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024

Code execution in NETGEAR ProSAFE NMS300 before 1.7.0.20 allows remote attackers to run arbitrary code as SYSTEM. The SettingConfigController class exposes a dangerous function without an effective authorization boundary. The route nominally requires authentication, but the existing authentication mechanism can be bypassed, enabling full control of the Windows service host.
