Code execution via JP2 out-of-bounds write
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in the JP2 parser in Tungsten Automation Power PDF 5.0.0.19 allows attackers to execute code via a crafted file. The JP2 parsing path fails to validate user-supplied data before writing it, causing a write past the end of an allocated object. Exploitation requires the target to open the malicious file or visit a malicious page, and successful code runs in the current process context.
