CVE-2023-38071

Code execution via WRL heap buffer overflow

Published Sep 12, 2023 · Updated Nov 25, 2024

Heap-based buffer overflow in Siemens visualization applications allows attackers to execute code after a user opens a crafted WRL file. The WRL parser writes beyond an allocated heap buffer while processing malformed file data; Siemens has not disclosed the responsible routine or field. Affected releases include JT2Go before 14.3.0.1, Teamcenter Visualization branches 13.3 through 14.3, and Plant Simulation 2201 and 2302; code runs in the current process, and malformed input can instead crash it.
