Local privilege escalation via TOCTOU race
Published Oct 25, 2023 · Updated Mar 7, 2025
A TOCTOU race in Ivanti Secure Access Client before 22.6R1 allows local users to gain elevated privileges on Windows endpoints. A particular client process flow checks a resource and later uses it after its state can change, but Ivanti has not identified the resource or responsible component. A logged-in, low-privileged user must win the race, after which the user gains unauthorized elevated privileges on the affected endpoint.
