Cross-site scripting via unvalidated translated attribute names
Published Oct 25, 2023 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Cross-site scripting in XWiki Rendering 14.6-rc-1 through 14.10.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via crafted links. XHTMLWikiPrinter prefixes rejected attribute names with data-xwiki-translated-attribute- but emits the resulting name without stripping invalid characters or revalidating it. A victim must move the pointer over the malicious link; script runs in that user's session and reaches server-side code execution only if the victim has programming rights.
