CVE-2023-37859Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Root command execution via privileged SNMP extension

Published Aug 9, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper privilege management in Phoenix Contact WP 6xxx firmware before 4.0.10 allows remote attackers to execute commands as root. The root-run Net-SNMP daemon loads NET-SNMP-EXTEND-MIB, which accepts shell-script definitions through write-capable SNMP requests. Reachability requires the SNMPv2 read/write community string; successful requests obtain full administrative control of the panel.
