CVE-2023-37822

Private-network access via serial-derived WPA2 key

Published Oct 3, 2024 · Updated Jul 5, 2026

Insufficient entropy in Eufy HomeBase 2 before 3.3.4.1h allows physically proximate attackers to access the user's private network. The home_security binary derives the eight-character WPA2 key by Base64-encoding the serial number's MD5 hash and retaining eight characters, while only six hash characters affect the result. An attacker within wireless range can capture a handshake, recover the key offline in about 20 seconds, join the dedicated network, and pivot without restriction to the private network.
