CVE-2023-37770Public exploit

Compiler crash via unbounded expression-print recursion

Published Jul 17, 2023 · Updated Oct 30, 2024

Stack overflow in boxppShared::print() in Faust commit ee39a19 allows local users to crash the compiler with crafted DSP input. While rendering the crafted box expression, boxppShared::print() repeatedly re-enters itself through streambinopShared without bounding recursion until the process stack is exhausted. Exploitation requires a user to run the compiler on attacker-controlled DSP input and causes an availability-only process abort.
