Application crash via null BIFS index dereference
Published Jul 11, 2023 · Updated Nov 14, 2024
Null-pointer dereference in GPAC 2.3-DEV-rev381-g817a848f6 allows local users to crash MP4Box by processing a crafted MP4 file. BM_ParseIndexValueReplace reads through a null pointer while decoding an index-value replacement command from the file's BIFS scene data. Execution requires a user or local workflow to pass the file to MP4Box with scene dumping enabled, and the documented consequence is process termination.
