Process crash via misclassified SFAttrRef field
Published Jul 11, 2023 · Updated Nov 8, 2024
A segmentation fault in GPAC 2.3-DEV-rev381-g817a848f6-master allows local users to crash MP4Box via a crafted media file. The scene-graph type test treats GF_SG_VRML_SFATTRREF as a multiple-field type because its enum follows the first MF value, leading gf_dump_vrml_sffield to dereference an invalid low address. A user must make MP4Box process the file with the -bt scene-dump option; the demonstrated consequence is process termination.
