Authenticated code execution via arbitrary file write
Published Jul 25, 2023 · Updated Oct 23, 2024
Arbitrary file write in admin_editor.php in Pligg CMS 2.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through a chosen file path. The editor accepts attacker-controlled updatedfile content and the_file2 destination without constraining the path, so a PHP file can be written into the web root. The demonstrated request uses an administrative session, and successful exploitation grants arbitrary file reads and code execution with the web server's privileges.
