Browser script execution via unsanitized link URL
Published Aug 10, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in NetBox 3.4.7 allows remote authenticated users to execute browser scripts through a crafted Custom Link URL template. The custom link renderer inserts the Jinja2-rendered Link URL into an anchor without sanitizing the completed HTML, allowing markup to escape the href attribute. Creating the stored payload requires permission to add or modify custom links, while any authenticated user who opens an affected object view triggers it in that user's browser.
